Buchladen Eisenherz – Gay Bookshop Berlin Schöneberg
The gay bookshop Berlin is Buchladen Eisenherz. It is Berlin’s first gay bookshop in the heart of Schöneberg. It started by four men in November 1978. Originally a bookshop-cum-meeting place on the Bülowstrasse, the business has since thrice shifted location. Now Buchladen Eisenherz is on the Motzstraße directly in the gay area.
Greatest European assortment in the Gay Bookshop
You’ll find the odd porn and feature film DVD here. But most decidedly the emphasis here is on serious gay and lesbian fiction. The range of the gay bookshop has also gender studies, academic subjects, poetry and travel literature. A special sections is books for children, international magazines and fanzines. And if something should not be in stock, you can order it here and get it as soon as possible.
Evenings are occasionally reserved for readings and special events. Now run by Franz Brandmeier and Roland Müller-Flashar, the business takes its name from Hal Foster’s 1937 comic-book Nordic character Prince Valiant.
Prince Eisenherz has been a loyal companion for the bear scene since many years, because you can always buy tickets for various parties in advance.
